Das ARP Solina String Ensemble ist eine legendäre, vollpolyphone analoge String-Machine, die 1974 auf den Markt kam und den Sound der 1970er und 1980er Jahre maßgeblich prägte. Ursprünglich von der niederländischen Firma Eminent entwickelt (aus der 310 Unique Heimorgel abgeleitet), wurde sie in den USA unter dem Label ARP vertrieben und erlangte weltweiten Kultstatus.

Der Sound: Bekannt für seinen warmen, schwebenden und epischen Streicherklang. Erreicht wurde dieser durch eine Frequenzteiler-Schaltung (Divide-Down) und eine einzigartige dreiphasige Chorus-Effekt-Sektion(Bucket Brigade Delays). 

Instrumente / Presets: Violine, Viola, Cello, Kontrabass, Trompete und Horn. 

Berühmte Nutzer: Pink Floyd (Wish You Were Here), Jean-Michel Jarre, The Cure, Joy Division, Air und Elton John. 

Verfügbarkeit: Heute nur noch gebraucht (z.B. auf Reverb) zu hohen Sammlerpreisen zu finden. Die Geräte sind aufgrund des Alters oft wartungsintensiv.

The ARP Solina String Ensemble is a legendary, fully polyphonic analog string machine that was released in 1974 and had a major influence on the sound of the 1970s and 1980s. Originally developed by the Dutch company Eminent (based on the 310 Unique home organ), it was marketed in the U.S. under the ARP label and achieved worldwide cult status.

The Sound: Known for its warm, floating, and epic string sound. This was achieved through a frequency divider circuit (divide-down) and a unique three-phase chorus effect section (bucket brigade delays).
